Exploring an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Poop with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and enthusiasts have found plenty of engaging indie games. But, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer includes a protagonist that is truly a dung striving to travel to a restroom. As a fun fact, "Unko" means "poop."

Player controls is straightforward: press a jump control. In 150 levels, you'll face boss fights and access a shop to buy outfits for your poop character.

Time your movements carefully, as a error requires beginning again. Bounce using floating orbs to hurl the poop higher, cross crumbling platforms, and touch switches to unlock hidden paths. Collect currency and use them on more difficult stages in which things intensifies.

Graphically, the experience shows off vibrant level designs and catchy background music. The retro art of morphing abstract forms may remind fans of old favorites like Earthbound.

Although hard to think of previous releases where you control a piece of feces, interactive entertainment often included scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, you can create throwables from protagonist waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as plant food. Naturally, fecal references is present extensively in Obsidian's adventure The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its humorous premise, Unko Technica has already received impressive recognition, like being named best at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is ready currently on Steam, with the full game planned to debut on Steam this November.
